Six places you’ll want to photograph in Greece

Greece may be in the spotlight right now for all the wrong reasons, but what better time to visit such a beautiful and vibrant country? Traveling to Greece is a great way to help a struggling economy, and get some well-deserved rest and relaxation. While you’re there you won’t want to miss capturing those amazing Greek images. If you forgot your camera or other essentials, you can stop by retailers like Tesco, they have many options for forgetful travelers. There are so many picturesque places to visit in this diverse landscape to get the perfect photo. The only difficulty is knowing where to begin, so here are  but six suggested places to visit to get that perfect photo.

SANTORINI

Once a hidden gem in Greece, Santorini is quickly becoming the hot spot for any travelers in the know; whitewashed buildings atop volcanic cliffs surrounded by azure waters mean that all your future holidays will be spoiled due to the awe-inspiring beautiful of this island. Our top tip is to hike from Fira to Oia for the best scenery. This three-hour hike is not for the faint of heart, but the unforgettable views will make it all worthwhile.

HALKIDIKI

If ocean views are more your thing, then head to Halkidiki. A three pronged peninsula in northern Greece, where you can climb neighboring Mount Athos for views of the sea, and spiritual photos of these Byzantine monasteries. Or explore the naturally gorgeous Sithonia for secluded coves and turquoise waters.

ATHENS

Perfect for any history buff, Athens is often known as the cradle of Western civilization, the Acropolis and Parthenon are atmospheric and intimidating, and provide wonderful photographic subjects, especially against the backdrop of a sunset, there’s nothing left to do but set up your tripod and get snapping.

MYKONS

More of a night owl? Then head to Mykonos to snap the revelers dancing the night away in one of Mykonos’ many clubs and bars. If you’re not a fan of people watching, then head out to the harbor and photograph the spectacular windmills that dot the Mykonos coastline.

CORFU

Budding architects will love Corfu. It’s an island with a colorful past, and this is reflected in the structures that make up the island. With Roman, British and Venetian influences Corfu is a cornucopia of different styles — you’re guaranteed to get that killer shot.
