My day started off with yet another outstanding breakfast here at the Villa Columbia B&B. I also had a lovely conversation with a couple of gals from Montreal. One of the gals checked-in on Foursquare and noticed that I was the “Mayor” and was interested in looking at my site…even before meeting me. I thought that was cool.
After breakfast I was off to a lavender farm where the fields were in full bloom. This lavender farm had the most spectacular backdrop of Mt. Hood…here it is late July and the mountain is still covered in snow.
As I left the lavender farm I noticed a U-Pick cherry farm and thought I’d stock up for the road tomorrow…I got a couple pounds of Bing, and a pound of Rainier cherries. I can’t tell you how delicious they are!
I then went on a bit of a hike to a waterfall, the area is called “Starvation Creek” which was along the “Historic Oregon Trail.”
Later that evening I grabbed some dinner, then came back to Villa Columbia and found Boba, the owner, milling around. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a lovely conversation. Boba and her husband are originally from Serbia, which was part of the former Yugoslavia. I learned some interesting things about the region…it’s always enjoyable talking with people from other parts of the world.
Tomorrow I leave Hood River and head northwest toward Seattle.
