07-31-10 Update with Special Guest
My long-time buddy, Deron Down, and his family were up in the Olympic Peninsula area a mere 15 miles from where my folks live. While Deron was up here he was a guest on Mike’s Road Trip. We hiked to this spectacular waterfall where I attempted to traverse to the top and nearly killed myself. We then went to my Father’s fishing cabin and tried our luck (to no avail). Finally, we went to this wonderful grocery store and picked up a fest of seafood (fresh Halibut, Fresh crab and shrimp), then headed to my folks place where we grilled it all up while drinking a whole lot of beer. We then sat on the deck looking out at the water and reminisced about ol’ times.
What a great evening!
The following video is my attempt to climb to the top of the Rocky Brook waterfall—then my attempt to get down without killing myself. As I look at the video I don’t think it fully illustrates how precarious my situation was…thankfully I made it back safely to continue another day on “Mike’s Road Trip.”
