12-20-10 Update

Had a great morning yesterday touring the Hearst Castle…what an amazing place!  If you’ve never been, I would certainly recommend a trip—it’s a national treasure and a great American success story.  The Hearst estate donated the house, much of the property and all the amazing artwork to the state of California a few years after the death Williams R. Hearst in 1951.  Check out some of my pics of the castle by clicking here.

After my tour I had a long drive to my next destination…Carlsbad, CA.  It was not a fun drive as the rain was coming down in sheets, but I made it safely to my sisters place, where I’ll be staying for a few days…then heading to Arizona for Christmas.

This evening my sister took me to a wonderful local restaurant called, Bistro West.  We shared a few menu items, including the southwestern egg rolls with avocado, mozzarella cheese and chipotle aioli sauce; a roasted beet salad with apple, walnuts and warm goat cheese;  followed by pan seared Ahi, jasmine rice and an array of seasoned veggies.  Oh my gosh, it was an outstanding meal and beautifully presented.
