Canyonlands National Park, here I come…

Well, I’ve had a wonderful stay here at the Box Canyon Lodge in Ouray, Colorado.  I experience some wild weather…yesterday it must have snowed six inches during the morning hours, by the afternoon…it had all but melted.  Today it’s mostly sunny and the snow-capped peaks backed against blue skies are awe-inspiring.  This town is so awesome…I hope it’s not another ten years until I return again.  There is so much to see and do here…from hiking to cascading waterfalls; witnessing a thunderous box canyon; fishing the snow-melt river; soaking in the array of hot springs, to shopping and experiencing the many wonderful eateries.

I want to give a shout-out to Karen and Rich, the owners of the Box Canyon Lodge…they were gracious enough to take me out for drinks the first night of my arrival.  I really appreciated their hospitality and had a great time getting to know them—they run a really nice motel here in Ouray and you’ll especially enjoy the proximity, and the hot spring tubs.

I’m now off to the Canyonlands National Park, a place I’ve always wanted to experience.  After that, I’m heading to Gateway, Colorado where I’ll be staying at the posh Gateway Canyons Resort.

Stay tuned…
