“Travel Because…” This is Why I Travel

As some of you may know, I am an Allianz Travel ambassador. They are currently running a campaign asking all of the travel ambassadors to share the reasons why they travel. The campaign is called, “Travel Because.” I hope you will watch the video below and be inspired to see the world after watching it.

Travel for me has been nourishment for the soul, it has been by far my greatest educator. From cultures, cuisine, geography to dispelling perceptions, I have become a very well-rounded individual thanks in no small part to travel.

Mark Twain said it well, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.

It all started when I got bit by the travel bug in my early 20s, thanks to a wonderful woman I was dating who was well-traveled herself, who showed me first-hand why travel was so special. Not just special, but rather an investment that has paid dividends in so many ways.

Our first trip together, which was also my very first real vacation as an adult, was to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Over the next decade I traveled to many countries in Europe, visited many cities in Canada, the States and Mexico.

Fast forward to the economic downturn of 2008, where I saw my web development and online marketing business evaporate, which in turn caused me to lose my house. And, forced me to re-evaluate the next phase of my life.

After many months of soul-searching and council from close friends, I decided to go on a sojourn of discovery, which lead me down the path of travel blogging. By combining my online marketing experience with my passion for travel, and a thirst for adventure, I have become a leading travel blogger and author. While I rarely take a day off, I haven’t worked a day since I started travel blogging. My work is my passion and I am rich beyond belief in the currency of experience.

The rewards of travel are so immense that the expense is rather an investment to ones life. Life is not about the things we acquire, but rather the experiences we tally up. And memories, are the essence of life.

I’m Mike Shubic, and that’s my travel story!

I’d like to thank all Allianz Travel for all their continued support. And, for giving me opportunities like this to share what inspires me to travel. I hope you’ll get out there and see the world! Until next time…we’ll see you on the road…
