From white in Wisconsin, to sun in Scottsdale

I just spent a week road tripping around southern Wisconsin where I was getting my winter on, which really got me into the holiday spirit. The last couple of days I was there we received a good amount of snow. Everything was blanketed in the white stuff and it was so beautiful.

I’m now in sunny Scottsdale staying at the Montelucia Omni Resort, which is technically in Paradise Valley, right in between Phoenix and Scottsdale. What a difference going from 10 degrees with snow everywhere, to nearly 70 degrees and sunny. While I personally love the snow, I can see why many who live in it full time come to the “Valley of the Sun” to escape the frigid temperatures. I’ve been at the Montelucia for a couple days now and it feels like I’ve been transported to a luxurious village in Spain. From my room I have the most extraordinary views of Camelback Mountain, an iconic landmark in the Phoenix area.

This evening I had a sensational meal at Prado, the primary restaurant here at the Montelucia. Tomorrow I’m heading out to hike Camelback Mountain, so stay tuned for my next Road Diary update.
